Poker players launch new internet legalization drive

Some of the leading internet poker players from across the US are set to lobby Congress over the coming days in an attempt to get poker exempted from the recently-passed online gambling ban.

At a discussion panel on Capitol Hill which kicked off this latest lobbying effort, the Poker Players Alliance put forward its case for the benefits of the game with the help of some of the brightest minds in the country as well as some of the leading players.

Among those involved in the drive is Charles Nesson, a professor of law at Harvard University, who feels that poker should be taught to children.

“I think poker has tremendous educational utility for kids,” he said.

“I think it’s a great family game.”
