Online poker forum offers Americans advice
A Canadian poker forum is easing the minds of American gamblers with news and advice on the internet.
According to the forum, PokerBandits.ca, the gambling legislation brought in at the end of 2006 does not make it illegal to play online poker – it prohibits financial transactions between banks and internet gambling sites.
Third party payment processors make it safe for online poker players to lay bets at the world wide web’s interactive card tables, the forum suggests.
Moreover, it indicates that there are still a number of gambling portals which are accepting US players since the implementation of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).
“Americans are not sure if it is still legal to play online or not”, said Arif Khan, founder of PokerBandits.ca.
“The law is really confusing at the moment and many Americans think they can be prosecuted for playing online poker, which is not the case.”
The US government passed the UIGEA during the first week of October 2006.
