China gaming market now worth $330m
The online gaming market in China has reached an incredible $330 million (2.56 billion yuan).
But not only is the market large, it is also growing - rapidly.
Just last quarter the online gaming industry grew by a massive 26 per cent, prompting many international companies to sit up and take note.
Of course being China, investment into the country from across borders is difficult, but with a population of over one billion and figures such as those demonstrated by Analysis International, which provided the above statistics, the international gaming community cannot afford to ignore the opportunities provided.
The figures are a surprise to many, who took note of China’s vice-minister of the Ministry of Public Security, Zhang Xinfeng, who tried to outlaw gambling online.
Speaking to China Daily he said: “The existence of…problems [such as gambling] has affected the healthy development of the Internet, brought harm to the youths’ minds, contaminated the social ethos and disrupted the social order.
“Our regulation of the Internet is not systematic and lagging,” he went on to admit.
