Celeb poker tournament announced in aid of Darfur crisis
The World Series of Poker (WSOP)’s Main Event will be preceded this year by a charity poker game at the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino.
Entitled Ante up for Africa, the $5,000 buy-in tournament will be attended by a host of A-list celebs including Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck, Brad Pitt, Jason Alexander, Jennifer Tilley, Hank Azaria, George Clooney and Matt Damon, to name a few.
Organised by Hollywood legend Don Cheadle and poker pro Annie Duke, the tournament will be open to anybody, meaning if you want to rub shoulders with - or simply annihilate - the cream of Hollywood then dig around behind those couches for as much loose change as you can find…
In a statement to the press Jeffrey Pollack, WSOP commissioner, said: “We’re honoured to host this event and hope that entrants - particularly those fortunate enough to win money - will make donations to help ease the human suffering that defines the crisis in Darfur.”
