Magic Spell, a five-reel, 25-payline, is one of the new games – allowing gamblers the opportunity to place maximum bets of $250, reports Online Casino News.

However, it is Prime Property, a five-reel, 40-payline video slot game, which will be bringing unique content to the industry, the site suggests.

Inventors of the slot machine indicate that the game will find itself a special place in the genre.

A new blackjack selection called the Multi-Hand Gold Series has also been released with what Microgaming describes as cutting-edge technology and new animations.

Backgammon ‘on the front foot’

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Backgammon has been taken to “a new level” thanks to a recent tournament from PartyGammon.com, it has been suggested.

The event, the PartyGammon.com Million, has taken a previously unknown group of skill gamers “into the mainstream”, according to a spokesman from the site.

Online Casino News reports that German backgammon player Andreas Maertens was the eventual winner of the tournament, taking home the majority of the $1.2 million prize pool.

The competition winner beat Lasse Hiorth Madsen 23-22 in a closely contested final.

“We saw the huge rise of the internet qualifier in poker and, remarkably, at the very first attempt we have seen online qualifiers compete and beat the world’s best players at backgammon,” said the spokesman.

He added that the introduction of online aces could change the game of backgammon forever, much like poker.

The PartyGammon.com Million was the world’s inaugural million dollar backgammon tournament and was held at the Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island in The Bahamas.

Blackjack players ’should start games in the right mind’

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Players of both online blackjack and its land-based equivalent have been urged to make sure they are mentally right before hitting the casino.

According to Poker News, psychology is an important issue to consider for players of the card game.

The site indicates that players who are scared to lose cash when they begin to play may miss out on money-making opportunities which present themselves.

Moreover, the gambling information portal suggests that it is important that players do not bring outside stresses to the felt, as this can affect decision making when there is money at stake.

Poker News also offers further tips on how to play the game, dispelling myths that doubling a bet after every losing hand is a good way to win your money back in the process.

Along with poker and roulette, blackjack is one of the most popular casino games available.

Online poker forum offers Americans advice

Friday, January 26th, 2007

A Canadian poker forum is easing the minds of American gamblers with news and advice on the internet.

According to the forum, PokerBandits.ca, the gambling legislation brought in at the end of 2006 does not make it illegal to play online poker – it prohibits financial transactions between banks and internet gambling sites.

Third party payment processors make it safe for online poker players to lay bets at the world wide web’s interactive card tables, the forum suggests.

Moreover, it indicates that there are still a number of gambling portals which are accepting US players since the implementation of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

“Americans are not sure if it is still legal to play online or not”, said Arif Khan, founder of PokerBandits.ca.

“The law is really confusing at the moment and many Americans think they can be prosecuted for playing online poker, which is not the case.”

The US government passed the UIGEA during the first week of October 2006.

Casino smoking laws ‘may be loosened’

Thursday, January 25th, 2007

Players could still be able to smoke in Atlantic City casinos if a council ruling receives final approval.

Despite original plans to ban smoking entirely in the city’s many gaming venues, an appeal from casino executives led to the formation of a compromise agreement to allow venues to devote a quarter of their space to be designated smoking areas.

According to the New York Times, the president of the New Jersey Casino Association, Joseph A Corbo Jr, spoke at the recent Atlantic City council meeting in favour of the compromise agreement.

Casino owners and managers had originally opposed plans for a total ban on smoking in their venues as they maintained it could result in revenue losses.

The proposal is set for a final vote at the next council meeting on February 7th

Located in New Jersey’s Atlantic County, Atlantic City is famous for its casinos and boardwalk.
